Delta HRA Transportation serves the geographical area of Fayette, Lauderdale, Tipton and non-urban Shelby counties. Delta operates Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Delta Buses do not operate on Saturdays, Sundays, New Year’s Day, MLK Holiday, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day.

General Guidelines for Riding:

  • No income guidelines to meet! If you need a ride to go to the doctor, dialysis, bank, pharmacy, grocery store, or any other place, you need to call to make a reservation: Reservations for in county trips need to be made 3 days before your appointment date.
  • Reservations for out of county trips need to be made 5 days before your appointment date.
  • When making reservations, we must know each place you are going for that day. No additional stops can be made at the last minute due to our schedules.
  • Plan to be ready 1 hour prior to your appointment for in county trips.
  • If planning an out of county trip, please call your Delta HRA county office for pick up time prior to your appointment.
  • Our drivers can only wait 5 minutes for passengers due to our scheduling.
  • Seat belts must be fastened at all times while the vehicle is in motion and wheel chairs must be properly secured and must meet the ADA definition of a common wheelchair.
  • No eating, drinking or use of tobacco products are allowed on vans.

Customers also have responsibilities when using public transportation, and should:

  • Tell drivers if they need help and explain the assistance that is needed.
  • Know their destination.
  • Pay their fare and the fare for the companion, if applicable.

Great News for Seniors 60 and above – you can ride free!

Delta and the Aging Commission of the Mid South negotiated a contract to provide that older Americans ride free effective February 7, 2007. This program will allow you to ride our vans, regardless of income or special needs.

We are here to accommodate you. This service is available in Tipton, Lauderdale, Fayette and rural Shelby County. All you have to do is call our office at 1-888-477-5226. Customers in rural Shelby County can call either Tipton or Fayette County to find out more information and to reserve your ride.

  • We do ask that you schedule only 2 stops per ride.
  • If you require assistance with either your wheelchair or shopping, you will need to pay for your escorts’ fare if he or she is under 60.
  • Also, due to limited space on the vans, we must limit the number of grocery bags to 3 per each customer.
  • We do limit non-medical customers to ride 2 times a week to allow customers with medical destinations first priority.
